Letter: Social Services holiday fund is grateful for your help

I am writing to thank everyone who generously contributed to our holiday fund that allows us to provide food, gifts and necessities for those less fortunate in our community. This year we saw a significant increase in the number of people in need , both the elderly and families with children. It was most gratifying to see the caring response from our community.

This year 85 children were provided Christmas presents and 86 seniors were adopted from the Angel Tree! In addition food and toiletries were given to many families, both at the Department of Social Services and at the Food Pantry.

Over the years I have come to trust that when we have a need, if the community is aware, they will step forward to help meet that need. And this year, once again, you have shown my trust in you to be deserved. In spite of the difficult economic times, you’ve come forward, most generously, to aid those in need.

On behalf of the Board and Staff of the Department of Social Services, please accept our sincere gratitude.
