Letter: BOS, you are the budget’s boss

It was refreshing to learn that Jackson District Supervisor Ron Frazier is advocating a more active role in the budget process for Rappahannock County’s Board of Supervisors (BOS) this year. In recent years the BOS has largely relinquished its budget responsibility to the county School Board and superintendent, resulting in limited accountability, ballooning spending and, of course, higher taxes for the residents of our county.

In an era of ever-mounting budget deficits and increased debt at federal, state and local levels of government, this is a hopeful sign that the duly elected stewards of our county budget will reclaim the fiduciary responsibility entrusted to them by the citizens of Rappahannock County.
