The coming 2010 U.S. census offers some attractive local employment opportunities for Rappahannock County residents. While the jobs are temporary (expected to last about a month), the generous pay could be a godsend for those who need some extra cash. In addition to the $10 to $19 per hour pay, census workers will receive mileage reimbursement and four days of paid training. Perhaps the greatest attraction is the fact that the workers will work right here in the county. That’s right; there’s no commute into the “wilds” of Northern Virginia.
Applicants need to take a written test and can successfully pass it with a very modest score. A worthwhile practice test is found on the internet by typing “census practice test” into a search engine. I also have paper copies of the practice test, and I would be glad to assist anyone with test preparation.
I will be testing Rappahannock applicants for about two more weeks. For more information, please call me at 540-937-5438.
