Hospice of the Rapidan’s eighth annual Butterfly Celebration gets under way at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 9, in the gardens at the Locust Grove campus of Germanna Community College.

The Butterfly Celebration is a life-affirming expression of hope and peace highlighted by the release and flight of more than 100 Monarch butterflies accompanied by harp music.

The butterflies are sponsored in memory of loved ones and in honor of people who have made a difference.

Butterflies are sponsored for $25 each. The name of each person being remembered is printed in the event program. Although the date to submit sponsorships in time to meet the printing deadline has passed, sponsorships can still be obtained and the names of those being remembered will be read aloud at the celebration.

The Butterfly Celebration supports Hospice of the Rapidan’s grief care program, which provides free, community-based care to assist people with their healing-grief, regardless of hospice affiliation.

More information about butterfly sponsorships can be obatined by contacting Craig Wilt at 540-825-4840.
