Letter: From the Lombardy, our sincere gratitude

On behalf of my family and the Poe family we would like to say thank you for all of your support, concern and love over the loss of “our icon.”

Over the years and through its many eras Lombardy Restaurant had at times developed an improper name for itself even though it had been there for many different kinds of customers. However, in the last 13 years, it had turned into a wonderful family and friend meeting place.

The was much gained through the small “hole in the wall” hangout. It was a meeting of kindred spirits, a gathering of friends and family, and a feeding place for the lonely and hungry.

For myself and my family, it was motivation – motivation to keep going and to be there for those who depended on us. Itw as a sense of purpose and a feeling of love.

We will never forget any of you or the many laughs and good times that we shared. We will all always carry a place for you in our hearts and for Lombardy’s.

Our customers, friends and family all need to know that you made it happen. Your support and contributions kept us going and open and a strong era alive. I’m sure that Ms. Irva Poe would have been proud to know that her era lasted as long as it did.

Lombardy’s also helped to shape and mold my family. Sometimes it was the only time that we spent together. When I say this I speak for my whole family, because over the years just about everyone of my family members helped at one point or another. As well as did the Poe family.

To my father George Pullen and my sister Lisa Baker, the two of you started 15 years ago on blind faith with nothing but hope and determination. I doubted you and said you wouldn’t make it, but through many long hours and determination, you did. I’m sorry that I ever doubted you. The two of you got it off the ground 15 years ago and the rest of us family followed later.

Therefore, I will not look upon this as a loss but as an accomplishment of what our family did and can do when we work together.
I would like to thank all of you who helped me in the last two years whether it be employees, customers or friends.

So on behalf of the Pullen, Poe and Compton family, we say thank you for your love, support and most of all your friendship. You kept “our icon” alive. I love you all!

Angela Pullen, on behalf of
Lombardy Restaurant, Pullen and Poe families
