The catch

On Friday after school, 12- year-old Hunter Settle of Culpeper decided to go fishing with his grandfather Ray Coffey of Castleton in the Thornton River near Laurel Mills Store. Hunter was only catching little ones and was about to call it an evening when suddenly he got a nibble on his line and caught this 25-inch sea lamprey – a seagoing fish that, like the salmon, returns to inland rivers to breed. Hunter’s grandfather and grandmother Barbara were very proud of him. Hunter is the son of Andy and Patricia Settle of Culpeper.
