Letter: Opportunity lost

In the Rappahannock News two weeks ago, there was a letter stating that the Rappahannock Food Pantry would like more volunteers. Having just retired in April after 38 years in the meat department at the Giant Food store in Warrenton, I felt it was something good for me to do.

So I called the Pantry number listed in the paper. I got a recording. It said, “Please leave a message and we will get back to you.” I left my name and phone number on Monday, July 12.

I’m writing this Sunday, July 18, and I have had no response. I have talked to people in the community, and everyone says the folks at the food bank are good people. So I say, if there is no wolf, please don’t cry wolf.

Thank you. I’ll find something else positive to do.
