How nice to open the Washington Post Magazine this past Sunday and see our own Cliff Miller sitting with some of the pigs at Mount Vernon Farm talking about the stewardship of the land that is so very important to Sperryville and all of Rappahannock County. Cliff, thank you for all you do, and for the model that Mount Vernon Farm serves in agriculture now and in the future.
Congratulations go out again to Ashleigh Pullen who sold 25 more books of tickets than anyone else to win the title of 2010 Rappahannock Junior Miss Independence at the Fourth of July festivities sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department. If you see Ashleigh please congratulate her on her fundraising for our village. She sold a total of 152 books of tickets for the SVFD during the annual carnival and July 4th celebration, and raised $3,800.00 for the department! Ashleigh, thank you for your incredible efforts.
Birthday wishes go out to Angie Jenkins and Kenny Buracker who celebrated their birthdays on Monday, July 19.
A great contributor
We would like to thank Cathy Pullen for her constant stream of information for the column and hope that more people will start calling or emailing us with items to include in the Sperryville column. Some items do end up on the cutting room floor after we submit the column for various reasons, usually just space; but if not in one week we usually get it in the next. The column is all about you and what you are doing, contributing, or celebrating, etc. Please send us items and ideas. Rebecca at Knit Wit Yarn Shop has sent us some great ideas for subjects. We need your contributions by Sunday for inclusion in that week’s paper.
