The Lady Owls varsity volleyball squad at Wakefield Country Day School is looking ahead to postseason play after beating Emanuel Christian School 3-0 on Oct. 22. The win improved the Owls’ record to 13-1, and 8-0 in the Delany Athletic Conference. The squad has a first-round bye in the DAC quarterfinals and will meet its first playoff opponent on Nov. 4 at home. Said coach Suzanne Zylonis: “They work extremely well together; they maintain a professional decorum, but still manage to have a great time on the court. With six seniors, including 2009 Player-of-the-Year setter Christine Pankow [of Flint Hill] and first-team All DAC middle hitter Isabelle Eastham [of Flint Hill], we’ve been a real powerhouse.”
