Rappahannock County High School welding teacher Rich Hogan’s third-block welding class crafted a life-sized peacock from recycled horseshoes. The burgundy and gold peacock was donated to Amissville‘s Narmada Winery to commemorate Pandit and Sudah Patil’s first anniversary of their opening on Nov. 20. (The peacock is India’s national bird.)

Chris Volk, owner/farrier of Battle Run Forge in Washington, generously donates all of his recycled horseshoes to Hogan’s welding classes. They’ve made alligators, turkeys, pumpkins and Christmas wreaths and other things from them.
