My name is George. I have one blue and one brown eye. I’m only 2 years old, part husky and part St. Bernard, and I love everybody. All dogs, and all humans. That includes the mistress who left me out in the sun this past July, on one of the hottest days of the year. I love the lady anyway, even though I was tethered to a wire, with a leash so short I could not stand or lie.
When the man with a badge arrived he found that I had no water, no food, no shade. I love him, and the shelter folks who cooled me with a bath and fed me. And I still love the mistress, without qualification. My tail will move with delight no matter who shows up to greet me; that’s what being a dog means. And that’s what love is.
This past week three my canine colleagues were joined with new owners.
