To all the precious folks of Rappahannock County: Now that the holidays have passed and things have settled down, I would like to sincerely thank the many people throughout the county who took their time, money, energy and love to go shopping for a senior from the Senior Angel Tree. With the wonderful assistance of the Union First Market Bank (especially Kelly-Jo and Phyllis), we were able to bless 115 area seniors with gifts and treasures catered just to their wants and needs.

With a team of eight “Santa’s helpers,” all the gifts were brought to the senior center, sorted, organized and distributed throughout the county, all before Christmas. So many beautifully decorated packages, filled to the brim with a little bit of everything, especially love and caring. Many of these folks have asked me to convey their deepest appreciation for your generosity and kindnesses toward them. I would like to quote a few of them here now:

“My wife and I thank you for making our Christmas a truly enjoyable day. Due to circumstance, we were alone this time, so your kindness filled a void. Please pass along our thanks to . . . our mystery benefactors . . . and the lady, Santa’s helper, who delivered our gifts. It made our day. Bless you all.”

“How blessed I was at Christmas to receive the gifts purchased for me from the Angel Tree! To receive such nice gifts from someone who doesn’t even know me personally really touched my heart – thank you! All of us who were recipients of your wonderful gifts to us realize how great it is to live in such a wonderful community that cares about the seniors! Thank you from my heart!”

“To the citizens of Rappahannock County and area, you do the most wonderful things to make life worth living. I truly sincerely thank you for the Christmas gifts. Happy New Year every one.”

I can’t say it any better than they did, other than to say that your actions speak very loudly, as you can see. We hope to do this again next year, so be looking for the angels again at the Union Bank right before Thanksgiving!

May 2012 be a wonderfully blessed and prosperous year for each of you, especially within your hearts!
