Letter: RCSSA’s statement to the community

While we’ve been instructed to say “no comment” in regards to the alleged embezzlement of funds reported in the Feb. 16 edition of the Rappahannock News, the current members of the Rappahannock County School Sports Association (RCSSA) want the community to know that we are working with the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office to complete their ongoing investigation.  It is incomprehensible to us that anyone would steal from a nonprofit organization, let alone one that benefits our county’s children. To say that we hope “justice prevails” is an understatement.

Please know that we will continue to work hard for our athletes and our schools and to earn the community’s trust back. That one individual can cause such harm and damage to an organization that has raised – and given – hundreds of thousands of dollars to the schools over the years is deplorable, but we’re determined to move ahead and hope the community will continue to support us and the students of Rappahannock County.

Sincerely,

The members of RCSSA
