Romney wins county, state

With only two candidates on the ballot for so-called Super Tuesday’s Republican primary in Virginia, turnout was expected to be light; it was just that. About 5 percent of the state’s total registered voters handed the primary election to Mitt Romney, who received 59.5 percent of the vote to Ron Paul’s 40.45 percent.

In Rappahannock County, 5.7 percent of the county’s 5,088 voters turned out to give Romney 56.2 percent of the vote (181 votes), to Paul’s 43.7 percent (141).
