Letter: The heroines of healthcare

I offer three cheers for the Heroines of Healthcare at the Rappahannock County Health Department! My daughter, who was to enter sixth grade at Wakefield Country Day School on Aug. 22, was scheduled to receive a required tetanus booster the day before, as part of a well child visit. But we were caught in the traffic backed up by a car accident on 522, and missed the appointment. I feared that she would not be able to go to school the next day.

Karen Flynn and Kim Dwyer at the health department saved the day, even staying late to give her the required immunization. They were kind and compassionate, explaining everything to her and putting her mind at ease. They made a girl who loves school very happy. I can’t thank them enough, and all the wonderful people who serve us so well in the county.
