Letter: Green is in again this year

A very sincere thank you to all the citizens of Rappahannock County who supported our Holiday Greens Sales this year for the Garden Club. We had a record 80 customers who bought 145 individually crafted items and 200 feet of handmade garland.

The work is hard, but we are so rewarded by two things: the smiles of delight from our customers and the thought that all the profits of the workshop go toward scholarships to send needy children of the county to nature camps or colleges. A special thanks to the Lions Club, which, as part of its new community outreach program, always lets us use the big tent to make sure our workers don’t get too wet and our items stay fresh. (It always pours rain at least one day of the workshop every year!) Thanks also to the wonderful people at Rappahannock News who give us such great support every year, and to the businesses which let us advertise on their premises.

This is a community effort where all the benefits stay in the community, and all the Rappahannock County Garden Club members are pleased and proud to be able to contribute.
