Before Monday’s town council meeting, Washington Mayor John Sullivan (left) and Vice-Mayor Gary Schwartz trade war stories. Two months ago, Schwartz slipped on ice in Front Royal and badly injured a knee; he’s recovering from the resulting surgery. Sullivan, as a pedestrian minding his own business on a Georgetown sidewalk in Washington, D.C. last week, was injured when a car smashed into a signpost behind him and knocked a newspaper box into his ankle. Both are expected to recover. More in the Washington column.
