At 3 a.m. Monday, with gusting winds and temperatures in the mid-20s, Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, with help from Washington, Flint Hill, Amissville and Castleton squads, responded to battle a house fire that apparently started in the chimney of this house on Freeman Lane, off Gid Brown Hollow, in Sperryville. No was was injured. Sperryville chief Richie Burke said the Red Cross was contacted to look after the unidentified family of two adults and two children.
