Letter: Donkey schoen!

Last Wednesday (March 20), Rappahannock County High School’s sophomore class held its second Donkey Basketball fundraiser. Thanks to much support, once again it was a huge success. For selling tickets at Rappahannock County Public Schools we wish to thank Cynthia Volk, Stacy Devine, Tasha White, Donna Oliver, Vickie Miller and Martha Kidwell.

Also, another big thank-you to our local businesses, the Rappahannock Farmer’s Co-op and the Corner Store, for taking time between customers to sell tickets for us. Thank you to all the student riders, their parents and our “Fallout Crew” (who, with buckets and shovels in hand, kept the gym floor clean) as well as the RCPS staff riders who bravely stepped forward and mounted up. Our students loved seeing you riding donkeys (or attempting to, anyway) up and down the court. Just think, one more item to mark off your Bucket List!

Thank you to all the Rappahannock County School Sports Association ladies who organized and worked tirelessly all evening in the concession stand. The food was awesome! Thanks to our announcer, Steve Hrabak, who once again provided the most colorful and hilarious play-by-play commentary. Thank you to the eighth- and 11th-grade student volunteers who sold 50/50 tickets and tickets for the five-pound Hershey candy bar raffle.

Thank you to Gail Czekaj for all of her accounting skills, to our administrators, Michael Tupper and Amy Gubler, for their support, the Sheriff’s Office for helping out and the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for providing medical support – and to the Rappahannock News for always supporting our school functions by advertising our events.

Finally, a Donkin’ Big Thank You to our Rappahannock community! You filled the stands and cheered our junior class players on to victory! We look forward to seeing you all at future RCPS events.
