Town drafts $777,000 budget

Budget seasons continues to move forward, as the Washington Town Council (absent member Patrick O’Connell), unveiled its proposed 2013-2014 budget at its monthly meeting Monday night (April 8) and set a date for the a public hearing on the matter (May 13).

The proposed budget totals a combined $777,800 – a decrease of $38,800 from the town’s current budget.

The town’s budget is actually divided into three separate entities: the actual town of Washington, the water works and the town’s wastewater facility. The proposed town budget is $312,000 (an increase from last year’s $291,000); $102,900 was allocated to the water works (down from $151,200 last year); and $362,900 for the wastewater facility (a slight decrease from last year’s $374,000).
