By Tuesday night’s deadline, the Rappahannock County Registrar of Voters had received petitions for just one candidate for each of the supervisor and school board positions up for grabs this November.
Barring write-ins or other unexpected developments, the Stonewall-Hawthorne school board seat will go to the only candidate to file his petition signed by 150 voters: Larry Grove, longtime county resident and conservation proponent (and husband of current interim school superintendent Kathleen Grove). Paul Brown, who currently holds the seat, did not submit a petition.
Other unopposed candidates are Stonewall-Hawthorne supervisor Chris Parrish, Piedmont supervisor Mike Biniek and Piedmont school board member Aline Johnson.
Registrar Kimberly McKiernan said Wednesday that all the petitions had been checked out and validated.
