Regarding last week’s editorial [“Salubrious sounds of silence,” Sept. 12], I agree. I have a former classmate from Fairfax High School who wrote a book recently on the same subject. It’s called “In Pursuit of Silence: Listening for Meaning in a World of Noise” (georgeprochnik.com).
All I can say is: Everything is relative! Having lived in Linden (which is beautiful but noisy), I am grateful to be back in Rappahannock County where the roar of Interstate 66 is not heard at all.
