We’ll crank up the music and set out the food
To make sure folks are in a good mood.

At Washington Fire, in their meeting hall,
Ten in the morning, doors open to all.

This is on Saturday, 29th of March
Come on over, no admission charge.

Park there for free, wear casual duds
We serve plenty drinks, alas tho’ no suds.

What’s special this year? Two candidates live
Guys running for Congress in our District Five.

There’s sturdy Ben Hudson, ex-Army is he
Versus Larry Gaughan to be our nominee.

(Ben and Larry? So near to Ben & Jerry
Such a word game woulda been so merry!)

Solid Virginians, good men and true
Helping to turn Commonwealth blue.

Come join in the fun with Smiggy’s fine tunes
We’ll keep on goin til the clock says tis noon.

This Brunch of the Dems is hardly exclusive;
We offer to all to be quite inclusive.

From Left o’er to Right, politically ecumenical
The java and chow are pure commonsensical.

The victuals will tempt you, as will the joe,
So chat with your neighbors and say heidi-ho!

Vice-chair, Rappahannock Democratic Committee
