The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Monday (April 28) in the high school auditorium. The agenda includes a budget presentation and authorization to issue Fire & Rescue Services RFP.

The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is currently seeking contestants for queen (ages 14-20), Junior Miss (ages 8-13) and Little Miss (ages 3-7) for the carnival on June 25-28. For tickets, parade entries and other information, call 540-937-4218.

The Treasurer’s Office is closed April 30 and May 1 to allow for the transition of the new treasurer.

The Salem Educational Foundation has a variety of scholarships available to students from Culpeper and Rappahannock counties. Applications can be obtained from high school guidance offices, or by calling 540-547-2589.

The Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market is open from 7:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday (starting April 26) through Nov. 22. Nestled at the end of Davis Street, the market offers a one-stop shop for all things local.

Piedmont Softball Association is now accepting registrations for all girls born between 1995 and 2008 interested in playing fastpitch softball in 2014. The registration fees are $50 per girl 12 and younger and $55 for older girls ($5 discount for multiple players from same household; full scholarships are available). The Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District has summer camp scholarships available on their website, culpeperswcd.org. Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program (NPBFP) is a multi-class initiative to help aspiring and diversifying farmers make informed decisions about a new operation.
