Letter: Nothing but net, thanks to . . .

On Saturday, April 19, an exciting event occurred at the Rappahannock County High School, as Rappahannock Law Enforcement challenged Culpeper Law Enforcement to an intense, fast-paced basketball game. All proceeds benefited the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office Children’s Foundation.

Any event cannot occur without the hard work and time donated by volunteers. I would like to thank Jordan and Jill Atkins for keeping the game book; Mr. Dan Sharpe for his excellent management of the clock and scoreboard; Richie Lillard and Jeff Atkins for your remarkable refereeing; Mike Leake and Greg Williams for lending us your voices for the evening; Margaret Ann Wayland and Mary Francis Dodson for your wonderful cakes for our raffle; Camron Wayland for all your hard work and salesman skills; Sandy Carter, Sheila Walter and Lynn Bailey for all your hard work in the concession area greeting our citizens; Chick Fil-A, Ledo’s Pizza, Rudy’s Pizza and Ed’s Awards and Engraving.

Thank you to all of the players, all of whom gave it their absolute all. Thank you to Rappahannock County Public Schools and Mr. Jimmy Swindler for all of your help and the use of the venue.

A special thank you to Sheriff Scott Jenkins Sheriff of Culpeper County for agreeing to this game and for assisting us in raising money for the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office Children’s Foundation. Also thanks to Lt. Janie Jenkins for helping me put this together.

Hopefully we can make this a yearly event.

One last special thank you to all the citizens, family members’ players and volunteers. Thanks to all of you and your donations we can put more smiles on children’s faces this year.
