Last week I was sitting in front of Rappahannock County Elementary School, waiting for my daughter to finish up some last minute substitute instructions before taking me to a doctor’s appointment. I was amazed to see teachers showing up at 6:50 — 9 out of 10 carrying overflowing satchels of work that I can only assume were filled with work taken home to do over the weekend.
I write this because I want everyone to know how blessed we are to have these dedicated teachers — who are, in my opinion, overworked and underpaid. Their day may end at 3:30 or so (assuming they don’t stay later for coaching, tutoring or other after school activities), but based on what I saw, it obviously starts again once they get home.
