Joshua A. Mack, a 25-year-old Culpeper resident, was charged early Friday morning (May 30) with driving under the influence (DUI) after Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Dodson found him asleep at the wheel — of a car stopped in the right-hand travel lane of U.S. 211 near Battle Mountain Road.
Dodson conducted field sobriety tests after rousing Mack at about 12:30 a.m., Sheriff Connie C. Smith said. Arraigned Wednesday in district court, Mack is scheduled for a hearing on the first-offense charge on Aug. 5.
The RCSO and the state medical examiner’s office are also investigating the death of James A. “Bear” Bryant, a Sperryville resident who was found dead at 12693 Lee Hwy. shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, Smith said. No further details were available.
