Photos: Flowing funds to teens

Carolyn Thornton of Rappahannock Friends and Lovers of Our Watershed (RappFLOW) hands a donation check to Paul Kearney of Trout Unlimited in the Thornton River in Sperryville recently. The RappFLOW funds support a scholarship to a young resident of Rappahannock County to attend Trout Unlimited’s annual fishing camp for teenagers at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria and in the nearby mountain rivers and streams of Madison and Rappahannock counties. In June, 24 boys and girls from Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia spent six days at the lodge learning from a skilled staff about the sport (including the group here on the Rapidan River) and about how to protect, restore and sustain coldwater fisheries and watersheds. More information on the camp at tucamp.org and on RappFLOW at rappflow.org.
