A single car ran off Main Street south of Harris Hollow Road just after 7 p.m. last Thursday, Thanksgiving day, snapping a utility pole in half. Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. F.L. Tyler said Trooper Brandon Johnson’s investigation led him to charge the driver, 32-year-old Amy Rae Samson of Washington, with driving under the influence. Samson, headed south alone in her 2014 Scion XP, was not seriously injured. Tyler said speed was a factor in the crash, which kept crews from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, CenturyLink and Comcast working into Friday.
