Amidst all the controversies, local, state, and national, let’s pause to applaud the Rappahannock County High School Quiz Bowl team. My husband and I drove to Williamsburg early one morning to watch these young people compete in the state tournament. The team members, looking classy in their blazers, answered challenging question after challenging question. The content was so difficult that the adult administering the match struggled to read some of the written material. The team came back from a deficit in the second round, ringing in to answer questions about current events, literature, geography, physics and history. The students solved complicated mathematics problems during timed segments. On behalf of the Headwaters Foundation and in keeping with its mission of educational excellence, congratulations to the Quiz Bowl team and its coaches, David Naser and Bradley Weeks, and to all these students’ teachers.
