A helping hand for the Next Step

Kathryn Habib, director of Headwaters Foundation’s Next Step program, accepts a recent donation from former longtime Rappahannock resident (and schools supporter) Robert Darby. The Next Step program, in which Habib works with the Rappahannock County High School guidance department and administration to help students pursue their dreams for life after high school, began through a grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation in 2005. The grant funding is coming to an end, and such donors as Darby, along with local business donors, are helping to keep it going, says Headwaters director Jane Bowling-Wilson.
