Several projects will impact your travel in Rappahannock County this week, including:
• Along U.S. 211 (Lee Highway), where VDOT crews will be doing prep work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday this week for roadway resurfacing (which will take place in the week or two following) between Waterpenny Lane in Sperryville and Rappahannock County High School near Washington. Expect alternating lane closures on the four-lane highway.
• Along U.S. 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway), VDOT crews are doing prep work for roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. One of the highway’s two lanes will be closed until 5 p.m. daily until the project’s completed; drivers will be directed by flaggers and have to follow a pilot truck through a lengthy work zone. Allow extra time for a trip to or from Front Royal.
• Electric company crews, meanwhile, are working their way from Flint Hill along U.S. 522 north toward Warren County, installing new power lines and poles, and also closing a lane of the two-lane highway as they go. It is not clear what might happen if the two projects along 522 meet up.
