In district court April 21, 23-year-old Cory Patrick Rinker of Bristow was found guilty by Judge J. Gregory Ashwell of possessing marijuana and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 24 days suspended and the rest to be served weekends.
He also had his license revoked for 60 days except to drive to and from work, and fined $500. A charge for having windows tinted darker than the law allows, the original reason Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Koglin pulled Rinker over on Jan. 17, was dropped.
Joseph Luther Underwood, 38, of Reston, pleaded guilty to using the identifying information of another to avoid arrest or impede a criminal investigation, and driving while suspended. On Jan. 24, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Zachary Taylor Highway (U.S. 522). The driver allegedly identified himself as another person to avoid arrest for outstanding charges in another jurisdiction and for a suspended driver’s license.
Underwood was arrested and charged on Feb. 2. For the charge of using a false identification, Ashwell sentenced Underwood to 12 months in jail, with 10 months suspended, 12 months of supervised probation and a $250 fine. For driving under a suspended license he received 90 days in jail, all suspended, an additional 90-day license suspension and a $100 fine.
Amy Yvonne Madison of Huntly, charged March 14 with public intoxication, was found guilty in absentia and ordered to pay a $100 fine.
The case of Danielle Marie Hare of Fredericksburg was certified to the grand jury. She is charged with felony offenses of entering a structure to commit assault and battery and grand larceny.
In district court on April 14, charges of assault and disorderly conduct for Charles Michael Hunter, 59, of Washington, were dropped. RCSO reported that Deputy C. Currence arrested Hunter on an assault-and-battery warrant sworn by his neighbor, Betty Grigsby, who accused Hunter of assaulting her during an argument about parking on Main Street following a snowstorm Feb. 17. Hunter and Grigsby settled the case out of court.
RCSO reported that on April 18, Deputy W. Ubben stopped a vehicle on Hittles Mill Road, subsequently arresting Rurik Phillip Evans, 44, of Front Royal. Evans was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a blood or breath test and drinking while driving a motor vehicle.
On April 19, Jonathan Quinter Ritchie, 31, of Warrenton, was arrested by Sgt. D. Stevens after a traffic stop on Viewtown Road. He was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a blood or breath test.
On April 25, Deputy M. Dodson stopped a vehicle on Zachary Taylor Highway near Aileen Road for a traffic violation. The driver Jacob Thomas Dart, 22, of Flint Hill, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
On April 25, Dodson stopped a vehicle in the area of Lee Highway and Bank Road. As a result Garfield C. Donald Jr., 22, of New York, was charged with possession of marijuana. Dodson stopped a vehicle the next day in the area of Lee Highway and Viewtown Road, afterwards charging Samuel David Davies, 59, of Bethesda, with driving under the influence.
