Good buy? No, goodbye.

By Michael Wolniewicz | Rappahannock News

Michael Wolniewicz put a sign up this week at his home in Chester Gap to notify any would-be bidders that the house and property to be auctioned on the county courthouse steps soon is not his, but the one next door. Wolniewicz says a long-ago mixup apparently caused some of the homes on his street to carry the wrong street number for years; the public notice of the auction somehow used the “correct” number — which doesn’t actually exist, he says, but falls between his house and the house being sold. He put the sign up for the would-be bargain hunters who’ve been eyeing his place.
