Big rain, bigger parade

Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s parade, a much-anticipated part of its annual carnival, was one of its biggest yet and managed to squeeze between the raindrops last Thursday afternoon (June 25).

Once the rain stopped, a very large Amissville VFR parade went on, with awards going to Warrenton VFD for Best Appearing Custom Pumper, Orlean VFD for Best Appearing Commercial Pumper, Chester Gap VFD for Best Appearing Tanker, Culpeper VFD for Best Appearing Speciality Unit, Flint Hill VFD for Best Appearing Brush Truck, Little Fork VFD for Best Appearing Fire Company and Flint Hill VFD for Best Appearing BLS Ambulance.

After the parade, the show — Amissville’s carnival — went on through Saturday night without a hitch.
