Rappahannock County School Sports Association (RCSSA) hosts its third annual Challenger Sports Soccer Camp July 13-17 (ages 3-5, 9 to 10:30 a.m.; ages 6-18, 9 to noon) at Rappahannock County Elementary School’s soccer fields, with Challenger Sport’s unique “1,000 Touches” curriculum. The Phoenix Scholarship is offered to an enrolled college student who has completed one year toward their degree. The student must be a permanent resident of either Culpeper or Rappahannock counties and in clear need of financial assistance to continue a course of study leading to the completion of a degree, associate’s degree or professional certification at any accredited institution. Thanks to a Make It Happen grant, 4-H is offering day trips for 8- to 14-year-olds this summer, including to Splashdown Water Park (Aug. 4, $25 per day); 4-H Education Center, Hiking and Swimming, July 21 ($15). Bus transport provided from Rappahannock County Elementary School’s auxiliary gym, where programs begin at 9 a.m. Parents/guardians must pick up their children at the gym each evening at 5 p.m. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch, water, sunscreen, swimsuit/dry clothing, towel and money for snacks (optional).
