The Washington Planning Commission meets for its regular July session at 7 p.m. this Monday (July 27) at town hall. Agenda includes the Comp Plan review.

Hearthstone School’s summer camp (for ages 3-12) is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 27-31 and Aug. 3-7 at the school. This camp includes storytelling, watercolor painting, beeswax sculpture, candle making, rhythmic movement and dance, water play, cooperative games, felting, basketry, beadwork, paper making, drumming, baking, art from nature and nature walks. The Blue Ridge Chorale, a community chorus serving Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties, begins its fall/winter season soon. The adult chorus’ first rehearsal, under the direction of Bob Burnett, is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Open Door Baptist Church (754 Germanna Hwy., Culpeper). Mountain Laurel Montessori School’s Whole School Open House is 1 to 3 p.m. this Sunday (July 26) at the campus for infants through 6th grade (155 Biggs Dr., Front Royal) and for seventh- through ninth-graders (23 Sunny Slope Lane, Flint Hill). Comfort and Knit Wit’s Art Camp is Aug. 3-7, 1 to 4:30 each afternoon. Campers will make a variety of art projects using natural fibers, paint, found objects and more. Fee is $225 per camper. Thanks to a Make It Happen grant, 4-H is offering day trips for 8- to 14-year-olds this summer, including to Splashdown Water Park (Aug. 4, $25 per day); 4-H Education Center, Hiking and Swimming, July 21 ($15). To register (at least two weeks in advance), return completed forms to the Extension office (311-J Gay St./PO Box 119, Washington, VA 22747); completed 4-H enrollment packets and paid registration fees are needed for confirmation. Bus transport provided from Rappahannock County Elementary School’s auxiliary gym, where programs begin at 9 a.m. Parents/guardians must pick up their children at the gym each evening at 5 p.m. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch, water, sunscreen, swimsuit/dry clothing, towel and money for snacks (optional). Please leave all electronic devices at home. If rain is forecasted to take place on the day of a trip, the program will be cancelled the day before the event and full refunds will be given. The 4-H Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock Overnight Camp is July 26-30 at the 4-H Ed Center for 9- to 13-year-olds who’ll spend five days and four nights swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, dancing and performing in the talent show and ending each day at the campfire circle. Blue Ridge Singers seek vocalists interested in performing fun and challenging repertoire. Based in Front Royal, the BRS rehearses Tuesday evenings and presents in three counties.
