Lord Fairfax Community College’s Office of Workforce Solutions holds a Career Open House 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 4) at its Corron Community Development Center in Middletown. The open house is meant to provide guidance and inspiration for community members seeking a career change or additional skills and offers information on accelerated training classes for jobs in such high-demand industries as healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, trades, computers, business and professional development and LFCC’s newest program in professional truck driver training for CDL-A. Hearthstone School’s summer camp (for ages 3-12) is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 27-31 and Aug. 3-7 at the school. This camp includes storytelling, watercolor painting, beeswax sculpture, candle making, rhythmic movement and dance, water play, cooperative games, felting, basketry, beadwork, paper making, drumming, baking, art from nature and nature walks. The Blue Ridge Chorale, a community chorus serving Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties, begins its fall/winter season soon. The adult chorus’ first rehearsal, under the direction of Bob Burnett, is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Open Door Baptist Church (754 Germanna Hwy., Culpeper). The first rehearsal for the youth chorus, under Cathy ter Weele’s direction, is 5:45 p.m. Sept. 7 at Open Door Baptist. Non-auditioned and open to all who love to sing. Comfort and Knit Wit’s Art Camp is Aug. 3-7, 1 to 4:30 each afternoon. Campers will make a variety of art projects using natural fibers, paint, found objects and more. Fee is $225 per camper. Blue Ridge Singers seek vocalists interested in performing fun and challenging repertoire. Based in Front Royal, the BRS rehearses Tuesday evenings and presents in three counties.
