Letter: How the commissioner of revenue has helped me

My experience with the commissioner of the revenue’s office is quite different to the views expressed in a recent letter, and I have nothing but praise for the helpful service I have received there.

I too have land in the land use program, actually barely enough to qualify (30 acres), and never had the impression that they were not bothered about small landholders. I have lived here since 1972, when my husband retired from the Air Force. His family has lived here for generations, so I consider myself a native with an English accent.

Other than land use, the office has helped me with tax questions and set me on the right path after my husband passed away in 2003 and I had people hounding me about a right of way through my property, which was more than stressful, I might add.

I plan to vote for Sharon Dodson so the office will continue on the way it is now and I wish Beverly Atkins the best for her future retirement.
