Cake and well-wishes

Hampton district supervisor Bryant Lee cuts a celebratory cake at the Dec. 7 board of supervisors meeting — his last as a member of the board. Lee, 53, announced last winter that he was retiring after nearly 16 years as a supervisor, plus a dozen years before that on the county school board. “I’m not sure I’ll know what to do with myself on the first Monday of the month,” he said in brief comments met by laughter and applause. “The best thing about this job is that I have met a lot of good people.” Supervisor-elect John Lesinski, whom Lee endorsed when he announced he would step down, will be sworn in before the board’s next meeting, after Lesinski won a three-way race for Lee’s seat last month.
