Rappahannock County resident Thomas Edward Lee III, 33, remains in custody in Fauquier County after being charged with two counts of breaking and entering after a homeowner found the Washington resident inside their home.

Initially, deputies responded to the 9000 block of South Pines Road for a reported burglary in the afternoon on Sunday, Dec. 13. “The homeowner described encountering a white male in the driveway upon arriving home at approximately 3:15 p.m.,” according to the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. “After some discussion the male left. The homeowner then discovered forced entry to an exterior door.”

Shortly after, deputies were called to a house in the 11000 block of Bears Den Road for a “reported burglary in progress.”

Around 3:55 p.m., the homeowner was in the basement of their house and heard the dogs barking upstairs. When they went to check on the dogs, they found the suspect inside the house.

“A struggle ensued and another occupant of the residence called 911,” according to the FCSO. “The struggle continued onto the rear deck where arriving deputies located the homeowner holding the suspect down on the deck.”

The suspect was then arrested and taken to Fauquier Hospital with minor injuries.

Lee is charged with two counts of breaking and entering in the daytime and one count of assault and battery. Lee is being held in the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

“At the time of the arrest Lee was wearing a plaid flannel shirt and khaki pants,” according to a statement from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. “He was possibly in the company of another individual operating a white 4-door vehicle.”
