Letter: The Maazel’s great gift

I think I learned to fully see the beauty of nature when I first moved to Rappahannock 30 years ago. And, I think I sensed the deepest meaning of music by watching and listening to Maestro Lorin Maazel. Then, one summer, the beauty of art and nature came together as one as our magnificent hills and hollows overflowed with music every summer at Castleton.
We have all received a great gift from the Maazel’s out of their astounding generosity and commitment to beauty. We thank them for that gift. And while I know many of us will miss the festival this summer in the way the Ireland might miss the springtime, I hope we can look forward to many fantastic concerts in the Castleton Theatre House.
