The keys to the county

John McCarthy, Rappahannock’s county administrator for the past 30 years, last Friday passed on the keys — to his office, and the county’s administration — to his former deputy, Debbie Keyser, who took over May 1 as county administrator. McCarthy’s tenure runs through June 30, but he’ll be taking accumulated leave this month and next — “so my last official act,” McCarthy joked, “is to be to be demoted.”
