RCHS’ music programs worthy of support

On May 5, I attended a concert at Rappahannock County High School that featured the RCHS Jazz Ensemble and the RCHS Panther Concert Band. Both ensembles presented programs of musical diversity and dexterity much to the enjoyment of the audience.

It was evident that excellent teaching exists in Rappahannock thanks to Brian Raciborski at the elementary school and Jason Guira at the high school.

I spoke with superintendent Dr. Donna Matthews that evening and we agreed that a larger rehearsal facility for the band would greatly enhance their progress.

Support of the arts is prerequisite for the ethos of any community and programs such as those in our schools are to be greatly encouraged and supported.
