Seeing ‘RED’ at RAAC Theatre

By Patty HardeePatty Hardee | Rappahannock News

Set designer and production assistant Cynthia Stamps creates Rothko “paintings” for the RAAC Community Theatre production of “RED” by John Logan. In the play, Rothko, at the height of his career, wins a huge commission for paintings to be permanently displayed in the Four Seasons restaurant in the new Seagram Building in New York. His young assistant Ken, initially in awe of the master painter, grows to challenge him and ultimately forces Rothko to make a fateful decision. “RED” is performed at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday (June 17-18) and 3 p.m. Sunday (June 19) at RAAC Community Theatre, 310 Gay St., Washington. For tickets and reservations, visit raac.org/raacwp/make-reservation-red or call 800-695-6075 ext. 1.
