Closed Monday (Sept. 5) for Labor Day (reopening Tuesday) are: Rappahannock County government offices, Rappahannock County Public Schools, Union Bank & Trust, BB&T, RRCS transportation, Virginia DMV and the Rappahannock News (which also has early deadlines for the Sept. 8 edition; all items for publication should be submitted no later than 3 p.m. tomorrow — Friday, Sept. 2).

The Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority (RCWSA) meets 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Rappahannock County Courthouse.

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity holds a community meeting 5 p.m. every Thursday at Willis Chapel United Methodist Church, 1804 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Huntly, to discuss the Habitat Home being built at 2650 Zachary Taylor Hwy.. Blue Ridge Heritage Project’s upcoming meetings are 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and Dec. 13 at the Rappahannock Library, for any and all interested in the memorial to be built in Rappahannock County honoring those displaced from their homes and land in Rappahannock when Shenandoah National Park was created. For performances by the Blue Ridge Chorale in early December at Prince Michel Vineyard and the State Theatre, a dress rehearsal will be held at Dogwood Village in Orange County, with youth choir starting at  5:45 p.m. on Sept. 5, at Open Door Baptist Church (754 Germanna Hwy., Culpeper).
