Board of Supervisors meets on Monday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Courthouse. The matter to be considered is: The efforts to be undertaken to hire a replacement for the position of County Administrator, permanent Building Official/Inspector and permanent Emergency Management Coordinator/Manager.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative annual meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Fredericksburg Conference Center on Carl D. Silver Parkway. Registration will be from 6 to 6:45 p.m. The business meeting will start at 7 p.m. Members may participate in-person or by proxy. Proxy designation cards are mailed with the July issue of Cooperative Living. If you are unable to attend, mail in your proxy designation card. Rappahannock County 4-H is partnering with Rappahannock County High School’s Drama teacher, Russell Paulette, to lead a 4-H Drama workshop. This workshop will teach elementary students the basics to becoming stage performers. This half-day workshop will be led by Paulette and many of his high school drama students, who will help lead activities and exercises that focus on improvisation, imagination and fun. This workshop will take place on Saturday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all 9 through 13 year olds. The location is to be determined. The cost is $10 per person. Virginia Cooperative Extension Rappahannock Unit invites local winery owners and operators to the 2017 Seasonal Vineyard Meetings. These meetings are held seasonally to discuss different issues and topics regarding grape growing and wineries for the season. Commit to Be Fit is a school-sponsored, grant-funded program that offers weekly exercise classes and wellness workshops for the Rappahannock County community. The Caregivers Support Group meets from 10 a.m. to noon at a new location (the Rappahannock Public Library) and on a different day (the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month). This group, started over 6 years ago, is free and open to all caregivers, whether they provide direct or long-distance care, and regardless of the reason that care is needed (e.g., dementia, long-term illness or disability, etc). Because we promise to guard each other’s confidences, group participants find a place to share and to support each other’s sorrows and joys.
