Raindrops and write-ins

Election Day Tuesday could best be described as soggy and raw in Rappahannock County, with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees. At the Castleton polling station, write-in candidate for supervisor David Konick is seen here manning a campaign tent that rivaled a tailgate party; while a few steps away his opponent, incumbent Supervisor Chris Parrish, lured voters to his tent with hot coffee and cinnamon cake.

Ducking into the Castleton firehouse to vote, meanwhile, were Richard and Mary Krammes of Boston; while Democratic poll watcher Francie Schroeder huddled beneath her umbrella in Washington. Despite the rain, voting countywide was described as steady throughout the day.
