My appologies go out to Mr. Ludwing for having to bear the consequences of irresponsible dog owners that are negligent of the law. I'm sorry that they made you out to be the villain here. This very circumstance is why we have laws on the books to protect your rights and property. I have had to tolerate my share of problems with the loose pet dogs which have killed my chickens, pet cats, tearing up seasoning meat, scattered trash cans,...even my wife being held captive by a pack of growling local pets in my very driveway. If justice is to be honestly served,...the owners should have been charged and prohibited from having dogs for a probationary period also. My only hope is that some of those twenty animal rights people that attended the hearings, approached the owners afterward to inform them about being responsible for their pets in the future!!!.....I know I am not alone in this expression, a lot of my neighbors of irresponsible dog owners have said they have had to deal with these same issues...What if Mr. Ludwing didn't shoot the dogs and instead had done as suggested. I'm sure he would have had to challenge the burdens of the Vet costs in Court, while the lame dogs were used as "Poster" victims to argue against the use of traps....He still would have been the villain even though he had broken no law by placing those traps.
