Jason Jenkins named Scholar Athlete

Jason Jenkins of Washington recently was named Scholar Athlete at Christopher Newport University for the 2007-2008 academic school year.

He also is being recognized as a member of the USA Souths' All-Academic team. Student athletes must obtain a 3.2 GPA for both semesters to be recognized for this award.

Jenkins was also a member of the CNU baseball team, which won the USA South Regular Season Championship and the USA South Tournament.

The captains made an appearance in the NCAA Regionals winning the first game against #5 John Hopkins 8-5 in 10 innings and then falling to Lynchburg and Salisbury. The captains finished their season with a 29-14 record.

Jason is the son of Jeff and Rhonda Jenkins. He will be a junior at CNU this fall.
